Hello all,
I don't know if this is the best thing to do but here goes anyway.
I'm bigun's friend and directed her to this site, I'm talking to her on msn and she's a bit flustered at present and knows I'm posting this.
The utility bills are to catch up because the direct debits weren't covering the bills, she can't change supplier because of this but is give monthly meter readings to keep an eye on usage and will look at changeing supplier when she can pay the balance.
The phone bills are huge but does include a virgin phone, telly and internet package ( she's split the cost between phone and internet)
There is 2 adults, 3 children and a number of pets in the family. The house is ex-council and has been re-mortgaged to consolidate, it still falls into the paying back timescale.

hiya bigunfromwigan,
Welcome to the DFW You'll get some excellent help and advice here. When you do go looking for cheaper phone/broadband/gas & elec, don't forget to go through one of the cashback sites like quidco, I done this for home/buildings & car insurance (x 2) and will be getting £280 back plus saving over £500 in insurance costs. Quidco charge an admin fee of £5 per year which they take from your first earnings.
Here is the link if you want to take a look http://www.quidco.com/
