As we have a Lidl thread what about an Aldi thread.
I have not really shopped in there. But have bought there yummy lime marmlade for 49p compared to roses lime marmlade for nearly a £1 a jar
So what do you buy from there as I am thinking is using them as they are closer the Tescos and Asda.
Many thanks in advance.

There is I'm sure a long thread on Aldi - although I know can't find it! which prompted me to go for the first time this week - yesterday in fact. I haven't been before purely because of snob value. However, it has been praised so much on MSE I thought I'd give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised - I expected most of the labels to be in German(is that Lidl?) and the place to be down at heel. The store was clean, airy but no frills. I thought there were a lot of tinned goods which were cheap but I don't buy many tins - the pasta and rice etc was cheap too. The area I thought it was best was the cooked meats, the y looked and tasted great, no added water, preservatives etc and the cheese section was great too. The fruit and veg looked ok but there wasn't a huge variety. This may be just my store - certainly because of the size it doesn't stock the huge ranges of Tesco and Asda. However, the strawberries (Scottish) were £1.49 for a big punnet and they are great. I paid £2.69 in the market the other day. The fresh (none concentrate juice) was lovely and only 59p. I would def go again but you can't (or I couldn't) get everything under the one roof like you can in Asda and Tesco.0

Is there? I have just done a search found a few lidl threads but not one that is dedicated to Aldi.
If there is could some one do the honours and merge this with that.

Maybe I imagined it???? I'm sure I remember somebody saying they did their dissertation on the people who started it - perhaps I'm losing the plot?
EDIT - found it http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=75630&highlight=dissertation
can't do the little link thingies. Am amazed I found it because I never get the search thing to find things for me. I searched under dissertation reminded myslef with previous message rather than Alsi. Maybe thats the answer - search using the most obscure word in the thread rather than the obvious.0 -
Nice find!
I'll merge the two threads then...
Edit: Oops - I can't merge into a different board. Silly me for not looking. OK I can move this thread across and ask the BG there to merge them, or we can just leave this one here...?Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I buy:
washing tablets (cheap but very effective)
washing up liquid
cheese
dog treats (dog prefers them to more expensive ones!)
bag of baking potatoes
tinned tomatoes
crisps
pasta
rice
rolls
Have only recently started shopping there - usually do most shopping at Lidl or Farm Foods but will definitely be buying more at Aldi as I have been very pleased with everything so far.The world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0 -

Oops I just searched on OS money saving rather than the whole board as I assumed it would be in here and not else where on the forum.
