It depends how busy your local office and medical services are but it can take a few months to hear if you have to attend a medical or not.0

it seems to be taking longer and longer, mine took 17 weeks last year, ive heard of others taking 20+ weeks, what happens is that your JC+ are only allowed to send a given quota to medical services each week,so the IB50s get "stockpiled",best advice i can give is to sit back and wait, assuming that you have tele them to check they received it?
Your benefits will continue whilst you wait0 -

I read somewhere that if a claimant receives the high rate care component that they are exempt from incapacity benefit medicals. I'm not sure if that is true though, or what DLA rates you were awarded but just thought I would throw that in.

LadyMorticia you are correct, anyone getting DLA High Care is exempt from the IB medical test. This question is asked on the IB50.0

Thank you. I wasn't sure if I was or not but just thought I would include the info for the OP, as they said they had just been awarded DLA. They didn't state at what rate though, but I thought the info might be beneficial to them so thanks for clarifying.

Ah, okay. It was worth a shot.
Apparently there is a back log of new claims and renewals at the moment so it may take a while to hear back but hang in there.
I know how horrible the waiting can be.
I'm not sure what the chances of being called for a medical are but I think the decision maker looks at the Incapacity form itself, any supporting evidence and they may contact your doctor or other health professional you may be in contact with. I think that's how it works, but don't quote me on it.
