I have done something similar from my NSI Direct ISA to Nationwide to Kaupthing starting on a Monday and making the second move on a Wednesday. It got to Kaupthing on the Friday. In your case, as it is a Bank Holiday next Monday, it would be better to leave it in your Nationwide account over the weekend and start the second move on the following Monday.

If I have to have a large amount in my Flexaccount with Nationwide for a short while, I always move it into their e-Savings which has 5.05% interest compared with 0.1% for anything over £3k in the Flexaccount, and then back out again when I need it.

Presumably when moving money from the Flexaccount to the e-savings it's credited instantly?

    Yes, and vice versa.

I did £10k Nationwide to Barclays. Sent Monday, arrived Wednesday. Then did £10k Barclays to Kaupthing. Sent Wednesday, arrived Friday. It's frustrating that there are some differences with the number of days some of these BACS transfers take, but this one worked fine.

So using BACS it looks like Saturday and Sunday is unavoidable

I always arrange transfers on Sunday evenings. The ones I have done lately from Sainsbury's Bank to Kapthing Edge have all taken three days.

Incidentally, when I saved with Nationwide I really disliked the way money had to be moved from the Flex A/c to the Savings Account. It was a messy system so I stopped using them.

Re Kaupthing Edge - last night I logged on CORRECTLY four times and was told each time that the details were incorrect and then got logged out. The operator I spoke to sounded cheesed off and gave me the impression this had been happening to account holders all day.

I tried to move cash from A/L to acc at Kaupthing. It had to go through my linked acc at Tsb where I found out only £10000 can be moved per day so I paid £30 for an immediate transfer of all of it, within hours was in marvellous eh .When are savers gonna get a square deal from these Banks having a bit of cash to try and earn a bit of income from is a hard road.I have had problems trying to prove who I am.Having to prove I am not some kind of money launderer ,latest prob is trying to transfer ISA to Icesave from ING Bank .ING have apparently sent a duff cheque to Icesave who inform us they are retrying to obtain these funds. What do I do now just wait I suppose .I hope that Kaupthing who I have certainly found easy to deal with continue as such they will end up with all the money others will then wonder why.

From a personal viewpoint I would have to say that the overall ease of using the Nationwide site far outweighs that disadvantage and there is even a box on the front page when you've logged in where you can do the transfer quickly. You just need to make sure your remember when you've transferred something so it doesn't sit there earning very little. I've used various internet based accounts and would say that Nationwide is the most user friendly. I've never had a problem with payments taking longer than they should either. It's just their rates aren't as competitive any longer, so I only keep a bit with them.

keeping a bit with them might prevent you from opening a new acct if they decide to offer a decent paying new savings acct ,if they follow the usual banking practice that is.
