Tax Credits & Childcare Vouchers

I work part-time and my OH full time. Currently my mother in law looks after our daughter whilst I'm at work. I may have to taken on some extra hours due to bit of financial strife but am trying to work out if it is worth my while as I'd have to put her into a nursery for any extra time.

Does anyone know if you can claim Tax Credits for childcare as well as using childcare vouchers?

Thanks in advance.

    see the post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=890493&highlight=tax+credits

You cant claim TC's & vouchers for the same cost, but if the vouchers dont cover the full amount you can ask TC for help with the diff. Eg £100 costs, £70 vouchers, ask TC for help with remaining £30.

Check with tax credits if you can claim any childcare costs first, as my OH
works fulltime and i'm going back to work partime soon and we can't claim any tax credits for childcare even though he is not on a high wage. So my OH is going to get childcare vouchers through his work as thats the only way to save on nursery costs. Your not able to claim tax credits for childcare and use vouchers so see which is the better option for you.
