Router settings

Hi I have just migrated from my previous ISP to O2.
They do not give any support with setting up anything other than their provided router.

I don't wish to use their router as I have set up wireless printing using a USB Printer which works well for our set up.

I have looked through all of the settings in the Airport App in Utilities (I am using a mac) and cannot find the places to put in the info I need to input.

I need to put in:

ISP: Name
Multiplexing method:
VPI:
VCI:
Username:
Password:
Domain Name:
DNS servers:
Nat:

I just don't seem able to find where to put this info.

The router I am using is an Airport Extreme 80211n.

Thanks in advance for help.

had a quick look via search for that Airport Extreme 80211n. and it looks like it is just a wireless access point (WAP) not really a router, so check on it for a cable to connect to phone line as i think it will not be able to connect to dsl on its own you will still need to set up the other router
On the plus side you will be able to leave your existing setup in place and run a cable from the new router to the airport, just turn off the wireless on the router when you set it up

I have been using it already for the last year with my other ISP with a modem, so should work with new ISP. Just need to put in the new settings.

I am not sure where u are going with this?, the "other modem" what other modem?, there was no mention of that in your first post.
The modem is where u enter the details you have given us, from the quick glance i had it appeared that the airport has no "modem"
If that is true, then u need to connect the airport to either "other modem" or the new router either of which u will need to enter the new isp details into

not sure if its good news but despite the name, your not much of a geek ;)

I'm confused... you say you have been using it for the last year with a modem, but now you want to use it without a modem...?

Looking at the technical specs: http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/specs.html
One Gigabit Ethernet WAN port for connecting a DSL or cable modem

The picture clearly shows that the WAN port is an RJ-45 (i.e. Ethernet) socket. How have you physically connected the AirPort to the phone line? Surely you must be using a modem.

So in short mdbarber is right - you need to use a modem. First get the internet connection working by connecting your computer directly to the Ethernet port on the modem, then when it's all working connect the modem to the WAN port of the AirPort. You might be able to use your existing modem with the new connection - if so you should find all those settings you're looking for in the modem.

You cannot enter that information into your Airport router as it does not establish the connection.

You would be better ditching the modem (that you didn't mention) and using the O2 supplied wireless router on both performance and security grounds. Just connect your Airport router to the O2 router using an Ethernet cable and you are back where you were.

    Spot on.

The Apple Airport is a Wireless Access Point, not an ADSL / Broadband router, nor modem.

You need to connect to your ISP either by plugging in an Ethernet ADSL router into the Airport and entering the settings for that device, or via a WiFi enabled router.

OK I know it doesn't have a model installed inside it I used a moden inline with it. Sorry I didn't make that clear.

I will have a go using the Airport Extreme and the O2 Router together as suggested.

    Fingers Crossed!

Right, all sorted, I cannot believe what a total numpty I have been with this. I knew it didn't have a modem installed because I have been running it with an external modem Duh!! What an idiot I have been.

Anyway after the worst day ever (you it never rains but it pours, loads of hassle with lots of problems) I have got at least this sorted out. I am going to take the weekend off and relax.

Thanks for all the help. Much appreciated.
