Travel Insurance after Having a Seizure

Just wondered if anyone can help me. We're looking to go on holiday later this year to florida. My niece aged 8 had a seizure back in february. She
has had scans & ecg's done & nothing has been confirmed. She has had nothing since & the doctor has said it could maybe never happen again. She has been given medication to take if it does happen again though. The problem is, trying to get holiday insurance. I either sit & tell all this info over the phone only to be told they can't cover her, or I am quoted some crazy prices. Anyone know of any company that may insure her at a reasonable price?
Thanks for any help

I know it is tough getting existing conditions covered.

I have recently taken out travel insurance with Trinity insurance (specialist for mod personnel) and they referred me to mediquote for endorsements for existing conditions it cost me £15 to get my daughters recurring ear problems covered and the same for me with my asthma and another condition. Maybe if you can find a company with them or if you give them a call you will be able to get cover although there will be a cost. I found them much cheaper than those listed in the specialist article on MSE.

    Good luck

Hi and welcome to the forum!!

You can use the search option for threads on pre-existing medical conditions as there are some really good posts in this thread in the latter more recent posts at the back for example:

You could always try a specialist broker if none of thte recommendations work and you can find one through www.biba.org.uk.

This is a very dificult one.
Five years ago my mother had a heart attack which was diagnosed as totally stress related as there is no sign of coronary heart disease, last year when my grandmother,in NY was ill and my mother wanted to visit, the cheapest cover(for 2 weeks) we could find was over £400, that was through the British Heart Foundation and even that wouldn't cover most things apart from physical injury.
It is very hard to find affordable insurance once there is an existing condition in place, the only probable way round is to wait for the condition to be disregarded by the insurers.
Also visiting countries where private health care is virtually the only option will greatly increase the premiums.
When my mother visited Italy last year her policy was about the same as if she had never had the heart attack.
