P60 Query

When is the last date that you are able to claim back money from the I.R? For overpayment of tax for 2007. He hasn't as yet recieved a P60 from a Firm that he did some work for sometime last year. He's owed some money back as didn't earn over the allowance yet paid tax on earnings. I've said that I think that the ex employers have until the end of May to send the P60's out but wasn't sure how long you have to make a claim for overpayment of tax.

If a P60 isn't recieved then can the last payslip be sent along with a covering letter to the I.R to claim the tax back? I know that you can send a P45 if you have left your employment but he was never issued with a P45 either.

You can go back 6 years to claim any over paid tax. So you have plenty of time.

Just said in the last payslip if you haven't got the P60 that should be fine.
