After reading that it is illegal to take default charges from benefits under the act mentioned above, I contact my bank (NatWest), and drew their attention to this, asking that they refund all charges of nearly £2,000 plus any interest owed as a result.
The local branch contacted me this morning and told me that the information I had been given was wrong. Apparently it is only illegal for them to offer loans, mortgages etc, to customers on benefits.
Can anybody clarify the situation for me.
Thanks
