what would you do?

Right just a quick one, i work weekends part time and my husband works all week, we do this so someone can always watch the kids. anyway he's taken a days holiday on monday and we were going to have a very rare family day! My boss asked me to work only 4 hours at time and a half, anyway i phoned hubby and he said do it. What i'm asking is what would you guys all do would you work or would you have the rare family day.

Family day, without a doubt. You've got years ahead of you to work extra hours. Enjoy the rare days you can get together now while you can. :)
  • Rare family day for sure. You spend most of your life at work - days with family are rare.

Hi, depends how much you NEED the money, if debt isn't too bad & you can afford a day out I'd say have the day out:j

BUT, if money is a bit tight, it's only 4 hours, could you not just have an afternoon out?? ( dependant on what time you're working of course ) or use the money to have an extra special day out when the opportunity comes up next.

I've just seen your post about feeling terrible, don't, if you need the money & it will pay something off then at the end of it you & your children will benefit, sometimes we all have to make sacrifices, even when we really don't want to, to reach the goal at the end.

I'd work, we need the money towards our holiday. We are both working virtually all weekend (With bank holiday enhancements). On the day I am not working I am doing a car boot sale. There will be plenty of time to have family days in the future.

    Do both!

Do the work that's needed but arrange a family event around it. That way everyone wins.

Right i'm working 11 til 3 so i thought we could go for a nice walk afterwards and then tea out? I know it kind of defeats the object but if i didnt work we couldnt afford the tea. Money isn't mega tight but i think it all helps. I just wondered what everyone else thought, have i become to money focused? In the plight of getting out of debt have i lost sight of the here and now. Gosh that was a bit of a sex and the city moment wasn't it.:money:
