Aktiv Kapital (UK) - Who Are They?

Why don't you contact Barclaycard and ask them yourself? I find this one rather strange in that the "debt" is only 18mths old (AK usually pursue very old debts that the original creditor has long since abandoned) and would assume that if you did owe any money to Barclays that they would pursue it themselves. Have they at any time in the past 18mths requested this money from you?“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0

I contacted barclaycard and they said that everething has to be done in writing via that aktiv kapital. They also reckon, that they didn't have my address (i moved in April 2006), which doesn't seem right to me as i am quite sure i was receiving statements. It was very stupid of me to destroy all the statements, but it's been overa year and i believed i'll never need tham again.0

Surely one of the security questions they ask when using phone banking is confirmation of address? How could you close the account yet have the wrong address listed on the account? Something doesn't add up!
Oh and btw, you should keep all financial documentation for at least 6 years, and in some cases forever.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Thanks for this you have all been a lot of help. I like to think of myself as a sensible professional person but it is amazing how quickly we turn back into children being told off by teachers when people use financial terms and make legal threats!0

Yes, you are absolutely right, something doesn't add up. But Barclays told me that I have to deal via debt collectors. And I know NOW that i should keep all the legal documents for at least 6 years.
What about letter, is it any good? I hope I don't put myself in deeper s..t by writing it.
And as I sad before, I want to try thing nicely first before going to confrontation.
Thank you guys.0 -
Did you have online access to this account when it was operational? I know it's a long shot but I'm just wondering whether it might be worth trying to log in again to recover statements.
I'm not sure how I would proceed with this one as obviously you only have the word of AK that you actually owe any money to Barclays. I doubt very much they would be able to provide bank statements for you, unless they can request them from Barclays on your behalf.
I'd wait for one of the resident experts to come along and advise you further if I were you as my way of dealing with these people is to point blank ignore them, which is working thus far, but I doubt that would be a sensible thing to do in your case“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -

Well, I have called Barclays and they confirmed that I owed them money, but they couldn't tell me what for. They referred me back to Aktiv. I just want to know what this money is for, if I owe it. Well, letter explains everything.0 -

Thanks. How do I do a SAR?
And why and how I should reclaim any charges?
See, i am a total novice in these things, so i don't really know or understand many things.
Thanks for your help guys.0 -
Hi there,
I'm new to this so please be patient,
In Nov 2006 I was being hassled by capquest in their usual pleasant way over a debt of £920, I eventually decided to ignore them.
In May 2007 I started getting letters from a solicitors firm in Edinburgh threatening court action, which I ignored.
In late June 2007 I received court papers for the above debt citing capquest as the pursuer I filled in the court papers and sent them in.
The court date was late July 2007 so after this date I called the court who directed me to the solicitors to ask the outcome.
I was informed that a ccj was granted and they would pursue, I made arrangements to pay £40 per month at 12.25pm on the Friday and by 1.05PM
on the same day I was served with an inhibition order by sheriffs officers.
They must have asked the court of sessions for this within hours of gaining the ccj judgement.
I paid the £40 for 7 months and decided to contact my local council debt advice centre who were shocked at the over the top way that capquest had
reacted to such a small debt(especially the inhibition order).
They said they couldn't tell me to stop paying the debt but I got the message and stopped paying and heard nothing more.
I had been reading this site for a while and decided to ask capquest for a copy of my consumer credit agreement, anyway after much hassle it turns out that they don't have it.
They have sent me a letter asking me to contact them on a freephone number to discuss the account. (I am reluctant to do this)
I have a ccj and a inhibition order against my house and have paid £280 towards this debt.
What do I do now? do I phone them? can I get all the above removed from my address?
Could I have your advise please
