Aktiv Kapital (UK) - Who Are They?
Comments

I have just received my 3rd letter in 3 weeks from Debt Managers Ltd. who are acting on behalf of Aktiv Kapital AI demanding money. I have found the relevant letter template and will send it special delivery tomorrow. My question is this:
Should I send the letter to the address at the top of the letters I have received which is a PO Box number? Or should I send it to their regestered office which is at the bottom of the letters in tiny, tiny writing. And if i sent it to the PO Box special delivery, would i still get a proof of delivery such as a signature?0 -
I recieved a letter from AK - I'm gonna send them a request for a CCA but I was thinking about signing it with a different signature to my normal one - just to see if they do scan it in an put it on my CAA (if there is one)... what do you think?0

Why bother? If you sign it yourself but differently from the norm there will still be different markers that a handwriting expert will/could pick up on. Just request a cca without signing the letter, less complicated in my eyes. Then deal with them if/when they produce a cca.Supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust0

Still send it via the PO BOX, recorded delivery it will get where it needs to be and you will get tracking info.Supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust0 -
I have too, have recently received a letter from Debt Managers Limited of Edinburgh who are acting on behalf of Aktiv Kapital. They claim I owe £469.00 from the 8th April 1998!!!!! I called to query the amount and the debt and they told me it was from an electrical store, but they have an address that I have never lived at. The took me through no Data Protection questions at all and gave me all the address details of the property that I have no knowledge of, a clear breach of Data Protection rules as I understand it. I have now sent a letter accepting no knowledge of the debt and also stating that as the debt is now ten years old they cannot claim it back even if I did know what the debt was.
Check you credit file even though they appear to be fishing. Some dca's will issue a default on your file for settled or non existent debts.Supporting the Childhood Eye Cancer Trust0 -
I was just gonna see how crafty they were - but from reading these pages I think I already know the answer!0

It does, unfortunately, often take several weeks for defaults (even illegal defaults) to be removed from your crf.
I would, certainly, check again in a couple of weeks. If it has still not been removed, then report them to both Trading Standards and The Information Commissioner.
OK I had a letter from them saying 'further to our recent correspondence.....we note that we have not received a response.....without your assistance we would not be able to resolve this matter as efficiently as either of us would wish.....require further information from you....' etc etc. It's basically almost exactly the same as the one they sent me last year, but they don't say what information they require and they ask me to phone them which there is no way I will do. They haven't been trying to contact me at all recently either, I've only had this one letter.
As far as I am aware they should have been able to provide me the original credit agreement without any 'further information' from me? I checked this morning and the default is still there on my credit report.
I would like to go ahead and report them to TS - how do I do this and any advice on what TS could possibly do and roughly how long this sort of thing takes?
Thank you.0 -

recorded Delivery does not guarantee a signature on a PO Box. I have had this problem with Shop Direct. The Post Office say the only way to ensure a signature is Special Delivery - costs £4.60.Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0 -
