Strange question re maggotts!!!!!

Hi
Hope someone may be able to help me. For about the past 5 months there have been loads of maggotts in my garden but......... Only when it rains at night! They are on the patio and there are literally hundreds of them. There is no rubbish that they are coming from and even when its been really cold over winter they have still been appearing. I thought they were only about in summer. Ive got no idea where they can be coming from. Can anyone suggest A.) How to get rid B.) Where they might be coming from
Thanks.

Thanks for all your replies. The dead bird could be quite feasible as there are some birds that keep getting in the guttering.
SimonP: They are def. maggotts thats what confused me as i thought that aswell.
I will send hubby up the ladder to investigate gutters!!! Failing that i will get him to dig up the patio to check for a body.!

We had a spate of black maggots in the flower beds,I never did find out what they were. They were in little writhing clumps not scattered throughout.Just like normal creamy coloured ones only matt black.

I shouldn't have read this thread, the sandwich in front of me just now has lost its appeal. I hope you find the cause of these "things".
