Winzip problem - I might cry :(

I’m having an IT nighmare.
Basically, I downloaded a trial version of winzip and it’s expired. I can’t delete it from programme files and I don’t want to have to pay for it. Will I have to? If I try to download a new version of WZ, the trial version is dominant and won’t let me go any further.
If I get any more frustrated I might explode. Please help  <bawl>

Can't you uninstall it from add/remove programs? At worst you can just delete the winzip folder under the program files directory. (probably need to clean/fix registry after with something like ccleaner).
XP and Vista natively unzip files anyway and for more advanced features you can use 7zip."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

As I remember winzip was free, you only get the nag screen for a few secs.
Its included in Vista and WinXP unzips anyway. What are you using?
And no you don't have to pay. Where did you get it from then?0 -

I don't know...the shareware version the OP installed?
BTW, Jzip is better than 7zip. Basically it's 7zip with a decent UI.0 -

Winzip expires after a certain amount of days now and won't let you use the program unless you enter a registration code..0 -
Thank you, I have followed your instructions and have managed to delete Winzip and download 7-zip.
Just one thing, though, when I unzip the programme, it doesn't launch the programme, just opens up a series of files. How do I get it to launch?

I'll have a look at JZip... 7zip works fine but I really don't like the UI. Thanks for the tip.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

TBH I never use the 7zip UI anyway, I just use the menu options/shortcuts etc. I.e. I'm always unzipping stuff etc using 7zip but I can't remember the last time I ever actually specifically loaded up 7zip."She is quite the oddball. Another vote for j-zip. Much nicer UI than 7-zip.0
