Hi all,

Quick question I have just put together a letter to reclaim my bank charges however I am due to pay another 2 sets of bank charges within the next 2 months totalling another £667.00 can I add a section to the letter requesting they also either cancel or refund me for the charges they are due to take within the next 2 months as I do not want to have to go through this process twice? Does that make sense?

Also I am a single parent on maternity leave at the moment and living off statutory maternity pay and child tax credits - Can I apply under hardship etc as me and my partner have recently split up and I am struggling to pay the bills?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Tax credits - you only mentioned CTC not WTC. Do you get working tax credit? have you told the helpline you will have a reduced income due to maternity? Did you know you can deduct £100 per wk from your income for tax credits - so say your on £10, have 39wks maternity in 08/09, you would take £3900 off the £10k inc & declare only £6100, increasing your award greatly!!!

Also, even if your info is correct - if your struggling financially you can ask tax credits for additional payments. If awarded this is money on top of your entitlment so will cause an overpayment, which you will have to pay back, but may be worth it in the short term.
