Tesco rip off

Options
On Saturday i ordered my shopping from Tesco and had it delivered Sunday, all was well but when i checked my receipt i noticed that i have been over charged on the conditioner i had bought. The offer was buy two for £6, normal price £4.98 each. I sent them an email the same day and today i got a reply today saying:

Thank you for your email.

I'm sorry to learn you've paid more than expected for your conditioner and I apologise for any disappointment this has caused.

I've checked the details and this promotion ended on the 24th of April and this is the reason you've not received the discount.

You can return the conditioner for a refund when your next order is delivered or it can be returned (with your order paperwork) to a local store within 14 days.

I apologise for any disappointment this reply may cause.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting *********.

Kind Regards

Gordon Mackenzie
Tesco Customer Service

The offer did not end on the 24th of april. On the site it clearly says the offer ended on the 14/05/2008. I even took a screen shot on the 27th showing that the offer doesn't end untill the 14th May. http://s113.photobucket.com/albums/n236/davidlera/?action=view&current=tesco.jpg I don't know if they have changed the site info since then but surely i shouldn't have to pay for their mistake? If it wasn't on special offer i would of bought a cheaper conditioner. I can't take them back for a refund as i've already been using them.

This will be the first and last time i use tesco online.

email them back attaching the screenshot or a link to the product
 I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

This is a very distressing situation to be in. I applaud you for taking the giant on.

    Have you contacted them again?
Mistakes are made, maybe the date on the website was wrong , in which case show the the proof and get your money back.
It seems companies are not allowed to make a mistake any more before the shouts of off with their head.

I'm glad you got the refund.
Did they refund you double the amount they overcharged you?
I think this is their policy and as they not only overcharged you in the first place they told you that you were in the wrong when you queried it, I think this is the least they should have done.

And before anyone jumps in, this is NOT the same as compensation.

You're kidding right? Compensation for being distressed over conditioner? :rotfl:

I think it's what's classed as a "sense of humour" - or should that be 'irony'?
