Lexmark printer

I have a Lexmark P4530 printer/scanner/copier and noticed that the colour ink was low, so I ran it untill it affected the printouts then I replaced the cartridge with a remanufactured one and now its working fine again. But it didn't reset, it isn't showing a new cartridge has been fitted even though I followed the instructions onscreen, therefore I cannot see approx how much ink I have left.
The photo cartridge was running out too but runs out slower but if the quality is affected, how will I know which cartridge needs replacing if there is no indication?
thanks

Hi,
This is a problem with some of the refilled Lexmark and Dell printer cartridges, first port of call is to give your supplier of the remanufactured cartridge a bell and ask them if it is normal not to have any onscreen functionality0 -
I have the same printer and often use remanufactured cartridges and this is normal for this printer in my experience. The person is the shop warned me the first time that I bought one that it is normal for the cartridge to show as empty when you are using remanufactured cartridges. The printer knows it is not out of ink, its only the on-board display that shows empty. Its not a problem, you will notice your print quality is affected when your cartridge is getting low and its time to replace it.Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

Thanks for the advice, the thing that bothers me is that it uses two cartridges, a colour and a photo (colour again) so if the colour goes funny I won't know which is empty, especially as they don't consume at the same rate. I guess I will just have to use trail and error.

You don't need to have the colour plus photo cartridges, it depends if you are going to use it to print your own digital photos, I never do seeing as its so cheap to get them done at asda etc. I have a 32 (black) and a 33 (colour) cartridge in mine instead.Well I can't stand by the side

My daughter has been printing loads of photos off as she is doing GCSE photography and often couldn't wait for delivery (typical teenager!) I will do that in future though as she has finished all her printing for now (have today just ordered new photo & colour cartridges, grrrrrrr)
