Supported Living for adults

I currently own a large 6 bed house which gets rented to students.
However, my wife has decided she would like to be involved in some sort of supported living project with mentally disabled adults, and is therefore thinking of turning the house into this sort of thing.
I am just wondering if anyone knows where to find the regulations on this sort of thing, and if anyone knows the sort of income that this sort of project generates.
Thank you.
