Natwest Student Credit Card??

Hey everyone, just about to start my second year at Uni with Natwest Student Account.
Now when I first applied for the account they offered me the credit card, I didnt need one but my parents and the natwest woman that sorted it said its best to get one "just incase". So I did....
Anyway it got complicated towards the end of the first uni year, they cancelled the card because I hadnt used it throughout the year (normal practice apparently)....I thought they had cancelled the whole account so re-applied and to cut a long story short I ended up with a new card for the original account which I received a week back.
Now this took a long time to sort out and I dont want the same thing to happen this year SO....
What activity do you think the card must have to keep it active? (branch manager told me that I need to use it for them to keep it goin  )
Also how do credit cards work- when will I get charged extra for wot I bought?
Do statements come every 3months or summat and I have to pay off woteva I have used?
How do you go about paying them off?
Any advice appreciated- cheers

Statements will be monthly.
You will be charged interest if you do not pay the balance off in full by the date specified on the statement. Usually about 3 weeks after the statement. It is normally possible to set up a direct debit for either the minimum payment, or the full balance.
Paying the balance is easy, cashm, cheque, bank transfer....
No idea on the activity front, Ive got a card I havnt used for two years and I still get monthly statements.0 -
If you use NatWest online banking you can make payments to your credit card directly from your current account. If you pay off the card each month you won't incur any interest. I would imagine using the card once every couple of months would keep the card active."Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0
