  • I had my first go on one this week, they are very good. I did all my kids cloths and 3 sets of curtains, very easy to use. You will still need you normal iron for some things. The mother-in-law says its hard to do shirts but I don’t have any of them!!

We have a Meile . It was pretty expensive ( £750 from Buyers and sellers ) . We only use it for Sheets and pillow cases but it does save a huge amount of time . We did not go for the steam option which was an extra £150 but have found that if you use it while the sheets are slightly damp you dont really need steam. The model folds up right and is on castors so does not really use that much space.

Was it worth £750 , probably not.

Although if you have a lot of sheets to iron or run something like a bed and breakfast it may be worth it.

(the model we brought below - It is now £35 cheaper than when we brought 2 years ago)

i got a new one with a steam option recently for £125 on ebay from a chap in gateshead (regular e-bay trader so you'll see him advertisng several) plus p&p which wasn't all that much and it arrived the very next day

I love it - it's absolutely brilliant and it's surprising how much you can do with it. even shirts - they're a bit fiddly to start with but after a bit of practice it's probably quicker than a conventional iron. but t shirts and trousers you can do in seconds.

the one I got is a bit heavy so although it does fold up we will leave it permanently set up in the utility room. that was the only disadvantage to buying a cheaper one - otherwise it seems to be just as good as the more expensive ones
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • I worked in a laundry for a while and used one but I found it was very limited in its use. You will get crinkles around buttons etc. I just limit my ironing-when still slightly damp, I put in tumble dryer, until dry and then fold and hang immediately. As far as cost goes I would also consider the press to be expensive to run. Dryer costs no more than an hour spent ironing! (well thats my excuse)
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
  • Im considering splashing out on an ironing press. i know they are a lot of money which is why im asking on here for any advice; are they worth it? which brand ect.

    thanks

    Hi susiesue,

Welcome to MSE. There is another thread about ironing presses, so I hope that you don't mind if I merge your thread with it.
