Sky Subscription

I had sky at a previous address. I want to get sky at my new address but I don't want to pay the full whack for the +box and installation because i'm not a new customer. What details do they check to see if you were a previous customer i.e Name, bank acc no etc. What details can I massage to get the new customer deal.

  • Have you terminated your old contract? If so then Sky might consider you a new customer if you want a new subscription with them. Try and haggle with Sky and you can tell them that in effect you are a new customer as you want a new subscription. However it depends with Sky if they allow you to do this.

If you were a previous customer they may do loads of various check and these can be varied. They can also check your last payments to them and also use a credit check to see if you were accepted by Sky before.

I just rang back with my details - we used my husbands last time. That seemed to do the trick! I wasn't a previous customer but he was!
  • So did u get the subscription with all the fee stuff thrown in?

This was a while ago before the latest offers but got it all for free etc.

I don't see why there should be an issue with that - I am a different person my contract is different etc. Did change the bank account we used though! Just to my sole account not our joint - changed it back recently!

Cancelled the subscription 18 months ago. I think this would count as a previous customer so i'd have to fork out for the installation. I remember hearing somewhere that they only do a cross check with your name and account number as a way of checking if you are a previous customer or not, but I'm not sure. Speculating weather to change my account number and deny i've ever had an account with them.

we check postcodes, so if u haven't moved then you won't get the new customer offer... unless you get a dodgy agent (of which there are a few)
