Overdraft Question

OK after a spell of everything coming off at one time & me not seeing hardly any of my wages as was living out of overdraft I am starting to use the overdraft less & less.
My Overdraft is currently £1,500 whilst this is quite high the most I have been overdrawn is £1000.
Few weeks ago I received an email telling me that my overdraft is being reduced to £200 as of 11th May.
However as I am still not 100% out the clear of the overdraft I am currently £300 overdrawn I tried to reduce the overdraft to £500 which should be more than enough online but am getting a message saying that as I am overdrawn the overdraft cant be reduced.
So I now have to either find £100 from somewhere in 11 days or the overdraft gets reduced to £200 with me incurring a charge.
If I was to go into my bank & try explain that need the overdraft @ £500 will they give the same response as online?
I apologise if this is hard to read Im not very good at explaining these sort of things.

Ask if you can convert the overdraft into a personal loan; HSBC offer this service, not sure about other banks.0
