Hotpoint Washer Dryer - Gone wrong too !!
My "NEW" (only 2 months old, bought from Comet), packed up this morning.
I'd previously had 2 hotpoint washing machines without issues, but i'm starting to feel less than impressed with this product/brand !! - at least mine is still less than 12 months old.
Comet are due out next week to look at it .... replacement or fix - lets see what they say ....0 -
I'm just adding a me too to this post. I have the Hotpoint WD440 and it is 11 1/2 months old and the worst machine I have ever had. I have had various washer dryers for around 22 years and know the problems with them, but this one takes the biscuit. I wouldn't mind but I avoided the cheapie ones as I thought it would be a benefit to pay a little extra and get a Hotpoint.
Firstly it was installed wrongly by the shop (it has a strange return mechanism on the pipes) and although that isn't Hotpoint's fault they sent three engineers out to me telling me everything was fine before they actually discovered the pipes were wrong. Add to the that that nasty condensending way they assured me it was my fault that nothing was clean and everything came out of the drying cycle dripping wet. They explained in great detail how I have to push this button and turn this knob and the machine would wash..wow, it's a wonder I didn't slap someone. They even tried to charge me for a failed call out as they couldn't find a fault with the machine.
I've also had a complete repair and exchange of the brushes, the carbon had apparently gone (doesn't mean a thing to me but basically machine wouldn't spin).
The latest problem was a complete failure of a nodule or something, took 10 days to get a part and then had to be fixed twice.
Oh yes and the best part is the lint from the drying programme actually clogs the pipes and apparently these machiens need to be stripped down a couple of times a year if you are a heavy user as otherwise all the pipes clog. I was told there is nothing at all that can be done except to manually try and pick out any lint or fluff you see after the drying programme has ended. So every drying cycle now sees me on my hands and knees defluffing all the seals and edges.
terrible terrible machine, would never buy a Hotpoint ever again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's all a shame really, it just seems that their washer driers are a bit poo, the new Aqualtis we got instead is a completely different animal.
However, they appear to prefer to attempt to save a few quid by contantly sending out poor numpties that replace parts time and time again, rather than cut their losses and replace the dog with a machine that works, keeping the poor buyer as a future customer.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
i was told by an engineer that half a load of wet washing will dry within an hour and no longer.
what absolute tripe. at least 1 hour 30 maybe more and thats with a split load. its eating my electric. having just moved and what with the crap weather we dont have an outside line. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Hi all
I have also bought this bag of poo...
My appliance is just 5 months old and stopped drying on Sunday. Finally, Hotpoint came today which is Friday and fixed it. Apparently the element had packed up...strange...I thought the element would hav lasted alot longer than 5 months.
I bought my appliance from Tesco and I asked them for a refund as after my machine packed up I read alot of reviews on this model and was horrified to find I could be calling out an engineer every month.
Tesco said I am not entitled to a refund as I have had fair usage of my product for the last 5 months.
Since I have found out that under the Trading Standards Regulations I am actually well in my rights to demand a full refund as my appliance is less than 6 months old, therefore it would seem my washer dryer was either faulty when I purchased it or had an inherent fault.
I am now also beginning to wonder if my machine is in actual fact a returned appliance and has been used before by another customer for the element to fail in such a short length of time !!!0 -
Unfortunately you accepted a repair, which now means you have no right to reject the machine.
The only saving grace is that next time it goes wrong you will be in a better position to reject the goods.
Our Hotpoint WD failed on a regular basis, the first one was replaced within 3 weeks of delivery. The replacement got a fault within 4 weeks, then it ran for a number of months with just the odd fault code that could be cleared by power on/off. Finally after 14 months it became to regular.
I allowed the selling company to send out the HotPoint engineer to fix it, even though they initially tried to say it was now nothing to do with them etc. After the 3rd repair within 10 days they agreed to replace the machine up to £xx, we went for a different make in the end.
I won't buy another Hotpoint WD, possible never buy another hotpoint product full stop!!!!0
