Period a House was Built

The house we are purchasing was built approx. late 70's and this falls into the 1949 to 1979 on category on Tesco.
However if I select the 1980 to 1989 the premium is £50 cheaper.
Could I really get out by this if I went for the eighties option? Seems unfair to have such a broad band for earlier than this.

Hopefully the warning on Tesco's site will give you the answer:

In theory, yes you could, however you should be aware that you are committing fraud by doing so.
The years matter due to the type of construction and their relative cost to replace now.0
