Did they ask if you'd also close your savings accounts when you moved to Post Office, Saga (or just about any other card which would be pretty much the same as the proposed T&Cs)?
Cashback doesn't directly affect me (I have the Comic Relief one, so doesn't do much for them though). Only remote possibility would be (1) but would need a bit of research first - I have offshore euro savings accounts, but didn't bother checking charges/availability for cashcards at the time.0
