is this the right thread? i hope so

im hoping someone can help, to make a long story short - i changed my direct debit dates with them in jan to collide with my wages going into my account, i got told it would take up to 6 weeks so the next mths direct debit wouldn't change but the following mths would. just found out that in march they still took out my money 9 days before it was due to come out thus incuring a £35 charge and another charge of £28 from my bank .

now they are refusing to pay the £63 i am due, due to their incompetence

they are blaming me for changing my bank accounts at the end of march

so can anyone give me some advice plz?

If you ever need to change a direct debit payment date; always cancel the existing direct debit and get them to send out new forms to you; this way you can avoid situations like this.

Your bank should be responsible for refunding your charges as they do not reflect the true cost of administering the default.

Telephone your bank and ask them to refund you the charges; be polite and calm; if they don't then look at the reclaiming bank charges thread here for guidance on how to reclaim those unfair charges.

    Good luck :T

i asked virgin to change billing dates from 19th to 28th on the 24th jan- they told me it would take 6wks which should have been done by 6th march- but on the 19th march they still took it out of my account when it should have been the 28th.

i changed through alliance & leicester & they were dealing with transfering all my direct debits so do i contact them?
