Well as you have them backed up (you do have backups don't you?) just copy them from your backups to the new PC.
If you don't have them backed up :rotfl::doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
You can use either a USB key, DVD Driver, External HDD or a Crossover ethernet cable. Up to you really. I take it that both machines work?0

If both laptops have wireless and you have a wireless router, you could also do it this way - it's effectively the same as using a crossover ethernet cable.
To use either of these methods you will need to set up file sharing between the two laptops - the exact mechanics of this depend on which operating systems you have.
Espresso is right though... if you have any data that you value at all on the laptop you really need to make backups.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon
And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Hi !!!!!!,
based on your request of easiest & cheapest I have to say it would be using a USB memory stick. There are potentially cheaper ways such as buying a cross over cable but they add complication through configuration.
When using a USB memory stick you plug it into the first laptop, browse to it using Windows Explorer or My Computer, copy your files on to it, take it out of old laptop, insert into new laptop, browse to it using Windows Explorer or My Computer and copy the files off of it. That simple.
USB memory sticks can be picked up for mere £'s and if you don't mind repeating the above process a couple of times you wont need to fork out for a large capacity one, instead making several "trips" with your files.
Good luck

Thanks [MaccA] (and everyone else), that's the sort of answer I was looking for. I wasn't sure if a USB would be anywhere near sufficient, seems like it will
