I'm making a beef casserole for tea and have only got red onions left.Will these be ok??

They'll be fine
Just use them as you any ordinary onion.

If you are making a salad and you would like to use a red onion for colour and only have white ones just soak sliced white onion in a bit of beetroot juice. Nobody will know the difference.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

Red onions are slightly milder than the white variety, hense the reason they are often used raw in salads. But generally they can be used where white onions are called for unless the red colour would spoil the look of the dish.Humans only use around forty percent of their brains capacity. Imagine what we could achieve if we used the other seventy percent!0

I used red once, they taste fine but they actually go a wierd grey colour when you cook them, so look funny...NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

I love red onions. They have a slightly 'sweeter' taste. Try them sliced in a dish of balsamic vinegar and olive oil.
