Should i get insurance through my business?

Hi all,
I'm in the UK and have a limited company which both my wife and I work for. We're thinking about getting insurance and am wondering whether it would be best to get it via the business.

We want travel insurance as we fly off somewhere at least once every couple of months.

We're also interested in health insurance, preferably one that lets us join a gym cheaply or for free. It would be an added bonus if it covered skin checks, we are both from Australia and it's a shock to have to pay over £100 for a service that's free where we're from. We've been in England for 8 months now.

Insurance bought through the business can be payed with pre-tax earnings which is why I'm thinking it may be a good idea.

I'd appreciate your thoughts on this.

Cheers,
Pete

If you buy through the business then you do lose the protection offered by the Financial Services Ombudsman. They only investigate complaints against insurers by private individuals.

If you can live with that then some of the covers available are better. For instance, corporate private medical policies often include pre-existing conditions whereas private policies nearly always exclude these.

Your best bet would be to speak to an insurance broker who knows what is available on the market and can give impartial advice on which option is best for you. they are paid commision by the insurer but the price to you would be the same in each case.

Can anyone recommend a broker in London? I'm in SE4.
