Hi with the possibility of more electricity price rises is it wise to cap say to 2011? Which scottish power are offering when doing a comparison.
& is it easy switching through ' Quidco'? & how soon do you get the cash of them ?

Reviews for SP & BG are generally terrible so doesn't make you want to switch really?

Appreciate any help

  • Easy to switch so long as you have a standard or E7 meter (and don't owe too much to surrent supplier)

Cashback can take 60 - 90 days on most sites - do the switch because you are going to save money in the medium to long term and view the cashback as a "nice to have" if it does get paid (sometimes it doesn't - especially through cashback sites)

I'd say NPower probably have the worst feedback of the big 6 - but they often come up cheapest in comparrison sites.

Well with prices forcast to rise 30 odd % in forseeable future (and given price of gas and oil) I would be inclined to fix it.

I switched to SP on the 2011 fix last month (just gone through) not bacuase I thought prices were going to rocket (which it now seems they now might) but because I could see them rising above the premium I paid to fix them (prices are slightly higher than current standrad prices) and because it came out cheaper than the standard tarrif I was on with E.on and I wanted some surety in my costs for the next few years.

I have just switched suppliers. I switched my electricity to Scottish Power going through TopCashBack, and it tracked very quickly. And since the switch seems likely to save me about fifty pounds per year on electricity, and perhaps one or two pounds a year on gas, the cashback is a significant factor.

Hi so both happy with the switch no problems with SP ? How much with topcashback?

    Thx

  • Well mine has only just come through, and have been happy with SP communications so far, not had any bills yet.

I am electric only, so topcashback for me is tracking the switch at £21 IIRC

My folks moved to SP a few years ago and they have had no problems with them.

Martin says in the weekly email that a capped usually costs 10% more. I've just been on the comparison sites and the capped deals are 30% more for me so I'll be staying as I am for now.
