I am looking for some advice. I have never had a credit card but as i am going traveling for 5 months in a months time i thought it would be sensible to have a card just incase.
So far ive realised i dont need to worry about balance transefer rates, but i think 0% on transfers would be beneficial for me, and i am thinking visa would be a good idea as its widely accepted in most places. But i dont know if you have to be earning a specific amount to be eligable for certain cards? and i was looking for some suggestions to point me in the right direction of a card that would be good for me!
Cheers!

I don't understand you here -why would 0% on transfers be beneficial when you have no balance to transfer ?
As recommended by Martin, cards issued by the Post Office or Nationwide are recommended for transactions abroad because they don't charge any additional commission.
Don't use for cash withdrawals though, otherwise you will incurr interest from the date of the withdrawal.0 -
