What relation is my ex's cousin to us?

Just a quick Q...

I have two DDs by my ex. Ex has a cousin (son of his father's sister) who is a friend of mine.

Said cousin is obviously related, albeit a little distantly, to my DDs - second cousins I think, not too sure? - but are me and him related because he's related to my daughters?

I think no but then yes. Has no bearing on anything but just interests me as I consider him part of the family even though he's directly related to my ex and not me!

The cousin of one parent is 'first cousin once removed' to the child; the children of that cousin are second cousins to the child.

In our society you are not related to him, but in others you could be.
