Ideal Star HE30

Just got a quote from the gas sales adviser for £4023.10 for an Ideal Star HE30 combination boiler. Does the price seems reasonable? Apparently our 14 yrrs Elan 2 does not meet certain regulation and the new boiler has to be fitted in a different location either in another part of the kitchen due to house design or in the airing cupboard. He thinks, the airing cupboard will be ideal but I am not keen in that location as I want easy access. The other option is to lose one of the kitchen cupboard and have the boiler installed there. He also said, if the heater breaks down completely, there is no spare part to replace it. Just want to know what to do & any advice will be much appreciated. Husband would rather pay more and go with bg as we have homecare 400 with them, but how much more? Thanks

What regulations? the common one is for flues and/or getting rid of the condensate waste.
Seems like a lot of money to me, especially for an Ideal boiler.
For s straight swap, I would normally quote less than half of that.
Still if your husband has his heart set on BG ...

Good afternoon: What can I say that hasn't already been said by EliteHeat, Andrew-b (and me in your previous thread) other than :eek:and Ideal  BG will cover a boiler installed by an independent CORGI so you can still keep your hubby sweet and save yourself thousands.

Thanks very much for your good advice, told the chap cannot afford it this year. Besides the boiler has just been serviced and he mentioned something about the vent which is not up to regualtions and will cost £99 to be replaced. The price quoted includes £700 discount and have read bad reviews on the Ideal Isar 30. Hubby thinks since it is from BG, it is reliable and a company you can trust. The problem with him is he does not like people around to get different quotes but I will persuade him to let me deal with it. Really do not fancy the boiler in the airing cupboard, we are pensioners and getting on and do not fancy having to climb inside the cupboard, will look for possibility of putting it in one of my kitchen wall where you can do visual check. It's not urgent, therefore will consider getting estimates done from corgi installers. I am in Bucks, if anybody can recommend a good one there? Thanks0

The airing cupboard is usually a good choice for location. Do you actually want to look your boiler in the eye every day?0
