Cyprus holiday

Im looking to book a holiday to Cyprus for the end of sept or beginnning of October, in Protaris or Paphos. Its for 2 adults and an infant (5 months) flying from Manchester or Liverpool. We wanted to stay in a really nice hotel, 4 star or above. We dont mind all inclusive but would prefer self catering.

We are on a budget and would love to find a bargain. Can any one recommend any nice hotels or sites to search? Are we best doing a package holiday or searching for hotel and flight sperately?

We can be quite flexible on travel dates and location.

It shows @ £349 each but once you click through it gives you a final price which is alot cheaper and not a bad price for Cyprus.

Just returned yesterday from a week in Protaras, which was mostly fantastic. There is a chain of hotels known as "Tsokkos" and I stayed at the "Tsokkos Gardens". It says four-star and it certainly is very nice and luxy especially if you go "all-inclusive" so all your meals, snacks, drinks etc. are free. While I was there the CEO held his daughter's posh wedding party and invited all the people staying in the hotel. www.tsokkos.com

All the other guests I met seemed to have bought their package through Thomas Cook but probably more expensive to do it via them. I got mine with "Holidays Direct" which I found on teletext per MSE Martin's instructions I think their number is 0191-230-5555. Two adults and two kids during peak school holiday season *all-inclusive* was £1849. That doesn't include transfers from Larnaka airport which cost me about 35 quid each way for taxi.

The reason I said "mostly fantastic" was that we had a bad time with flight delays in both directions ( that's a pot luck factor though obviously) also kids beds were a bit uncomfy.

I can well recommend the Athena Beach in Paphos or they now have a brand new hotel next door - the Athena Royal Beach.

The aquasol hotel is by no means 4 star by uk standards and is at the bottom of an extremely steep hill but for good clean accomodation it's fine. So much so I'm off in 2 weeks for my third visit, obviously I always leave it to the last minute to get a better price but the steep hill puts a lot of people off! which is why it always has last minute availability.
