toucan, any good?

hi, general question really as the thread title suggests, are Toucan any good? has anyone had problems switching to them and are their customer service any good?

I am currently on BT Unlimited Weekend Plan, (never switched phone provider) and recently their sales department have been calling daily wanting to speak to my husband, the account holder, anyway he is currently away (military) and they refuse to speak to me, this and the daily calls annoyed me eventually so now when they ask where he is I say none of their business because frankly it isnt! Anyway I complained to BT about the calls and now they still call daily and often twice daily so I have had it with them and am looking to switch!

I dont make many calls and im not bothered for these prefix options, I have broadband via a dongle as we are too far from an exchange and cannot get it via the line so I just want cheap line rental for the occasional call, from someone other than BT and the comarison site came up with toucan?

So if anyone could advise that would be great!

Toucan is basically a Tiscali re-branded service - avoid at all costs!

I've been with Toucan for about 1.5 years now, and have really enjoyed being with them.

This week I decided I needed a cheaper broadband/talk deal so, because I like Toucan and didn't really want to change, asked them if they could offer me a better deal (I'm paying £14.99 for phone and broadband, with line rental on top, evening/weekend calls free).

they called me and offered me the £14.99 payment but this to include the line rental and that they would double my broadband speed, evening and weekend calls still free. If I contract for 12 months - which I'm happy to do - then I will get first 3 months free also.

So, I - for one - am very happy with Toucan and this saved me moving to another broadband/phone deal as I'm quite happy with £14.99 pm (I only make about 3-4 calls a week, so calls cost me usually about £1.50 a month - as I mostly call same numbers, which are cheaper as I've nominated them for cheaper calls).

When I get my Direct Debit set up next month, that'll be another £2 off the bill each month too.

they may say its double but you will find its slower as i bet you are on the pipex system, at the moment but once you change you will go on the tiscali system for the broadband. and you will find the b/b slower a lot slower like i did. i was lucky to get near on dial up speeds with them and they said thats all my line could handle but now i'm with sky i am getting between 6 and 8mb on the same line so how could it be the line.
    it was they !!!!py service

Same here. I have their free weekend call package and they are the only company which does not put a time limit on free calls (BT 60min, TalkTalk 70min, Primus Saver Option 2 90min). I use the free minutes from my mobile to make calls during daytime and weekday evenings and only use the landline at weekends. With the help of the saynoto0870.com website, my phone bill with Toucan has been just the £8.99 line rental each month with no call charges every month since I have been with them.

I've been with them the past 18 months and never had any problem at all with them. Never had to ring CS or anything, so can't vouch for how good that service is ... but all I know is that I'm very happy with their service.
I've recommended them to folks as well, so definitely pleased.
There're always gonna be some horror stories whoever folks use, and there'll always be satisfied customers too ... I'm one of those! For me, a good company.
    £10 a day in November = £593.31 / £300

your more or likely on the pipex system which will be better till they change you over to the tiscali system and then it will go downhill give it time

Hi I've been with toucan for my phone for three years now, and not had any problems at all with them. I am with Sky for my broadband, sky phoned me the other day asking me who I had my phone with, told them Toucan they said they could do me a better deal free weekend calls and cheap line rental. I phoned toucan and told them, they said if I took out another 12 month contract I could have free anytime calls and line rental for £13.99 a month, I'm still with toucan.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.
