Capers,what are they used for?

My favourite way to use them is to cut a bagel in half and toast it. Spread with Philadelphia cheese then scatter the capers over before topping with thinly sliced red onion rings. Lovely but it won't use as many as you have.
If you mixed them with philadelphia it would be nice spread on roast beef in a sandwich.
I've also made this chicken piccata recipe which was delicious0 -
Hi, yes I bought capers from AF - just the one jar mind, but its HUGH - 2.44kg. I just stare at it unopened, not knowing what to do with them. Maybe this link will help http://www.recipes4us.co.uk/Caper%20Recipes.htm0

That sounds really good - I love capers with smoked salmon and cream cheese, but tbh I love capers, so I often eat them straight from the jar (although that's probably really bad for you!)0 -
I love capers too - usually have them on salads, in tuna & tomato pasta sauce. But my fav is a jacket potato with cottage cheese, spring onions and capers - lovelyAt least the fish fingers are still frozen, that's what I keep telling myself (Truly Madly Deeply)0

you could give some away on freecycle?!0

You bought these for the same price as an individual bottle. As someone else suggested give the rest away - they are taking up valuable space.
I'd find something to give it away with, and wrap up as presents. E.g. add a nice mustard and it's a condiment present. add olives and anchovies and put write recipe for home made tapenade (on link other poster put up). But if you're going to buy more to go with it make sure the person would like the food.
If someone comes to my house for dinner, as a foodie, I'd love a jar of capers and would prefer it over a box of choc!0 -

Tiredwithtwins, I couldn't describe it if I tried. They are kind of salty, with a green type of taste. They are not like anything else I have eaten
Thanks for the suggestions all. I am now.......tada.......one jar down. 47 more to go! So far they have been added to a pasta sauce, a bolognaise and a chilli. And not one person noticed
Thankfully they are small jars, and not the 2.44kg one save dosh purchased. Can you imagine getting rid of 48 of those? :rotfl:Proud to be dealing with my debts :T
Don't throw away food challenge started 30/10/11 £4.45 wasted.
