  • I'm sick of these blowing so i'm going to try one or two led bulbs (much much lower wattage, but i dont know how bright they are) as these have a very long life

They have GU10 for £3.50 each if you order 3 or more. I'm sure I got them even cheaper when visiting the shop and buying 10 but can't remember exactly how much now. Still using up the one I have.

tesco have tesco value versions too. But if they're blowing so often I would check out if they're getting too hot (no air escape at the top) or if your transformer isn't as easy on them as it should be. I've had around 20 in various places in the house for a couple of years now and none have blown.
  • I'm pretty sure that Aldi's have packs of three 50 Watt bulbs of this type for £2.49. (There might be other Wattages available). Plus the advantage generally that if you're dissatisfied with a product then you can return it. Not sure of the return policy with light bulbs though.

Every bulb in my house is of the 'energy saving' type.

They do not look as trendy as your low voltage ceiling lights, but they last at least 3 years, and save a lot of money on leccy bills ;)
  • They don't have them in stock continuously. They tend to appear every few months. I've found no problems with them.

I am after some 50W GU10. A search on ebay led me to this place https://sslrelay.com/www.dba-light.com/sess/utn;jsessionid=1543af21197080d/shopdata/index.shopscript

The prices look very good - either 15 Sylvania GU10s for £20 or 10 for £13.65. is that as cheap as I think? Screwfix is much more for unbranded bulbs. I have previously bought from Screwfix and bulb life time is OK but nothing special.
