EMM has had a problem with Nationwide for over a month and I've been backward and forward to them with e-mails to sort it out. It has NOW (tonight) been sorted. If you have these problems you need to change your IE settings to "reload this page on every visit" or words to that effect in Tools - Internet Options within IE, to ensure it downloads the newest software.

EMM doesn't work with Firefox for me too - pain!
Yes, it was working this morning - at least allowing linking to occur. Have just checked savings rates post 1st September and found that at least Flexaccount is still paying 3% on £1000+ credits although the lower tiers [£1-£499 and £500-£999] have each been cut by 0.25%

    Update.

Got my PIN through. Basically my parents picked it up for me. They then called me and emailed it to me. This was suggested by Nationwide. Great security measure, I think not.

However I can't change my PIN to something I can remember (i.e. what it was before) until I get back to the UK. This means I have to carry the PIN around with me, again great security by Nationwide, not.

I will be writing in when I do get back to the UK. However as someone else has already said the measures are "for your own protection", whatever...

I hadn't realised before [but should have] that it is possible to make future dated transfers from Flex into E-savings, as well as any other accounts with NW. You still can't access the money held in e savings via the TSS, or in any other way than being online to do it there and then.

It should be possible, of course, for NW to change the 'Transfer Money' facility to include future dates also. But given their poor customer service how would you 'ask' them to do this?

@Milarky This is perhaps the wrong thread start to discuss how to change the services and features that are available to Nationwide members. It may also be the correct thread. You seem to understand a great deal of how the banking system works. We all have views on the way we would like it to work.
Often there are many parties involved that have to interact with each other for a financial transaction to take place. Perhaps someone with some prior banking knowledge should start a thread that could reflect the way the Nationwide could be.
The CEO or the chairman used to undertake public meetings and web based chat sessions. Are they still doing these meet and greet sessions ?
Regards and respect J_B. (Only a suggestion)

No, that's a good suggestion - and, if I may say so, it would be more effective if several contributors [or more] from MSE who have accounts with Nationwide specifically submitted their ideas [constructive ones of course] together when one of these forums next comes up?

  • I'm too having issues with getting the nationwide credit card. me and my boyfriend applied for a joint account, got accepted etc, then sent our id off to them, nearly a month ago. Hadn't heard anything so rang them, they still havent called back nearly 10 days later! not at all a happy bunny, the only reason i applied for the card was because of the good rate abroad. very disappointed!
anyone else had the same issue?

 Only current account can be joint, but it comes with debit card ...
Why can't you make a phone call to NW? From my experience even Recorded Signed For letters get lost by Royal Mail very often ...
  • sorry, not a joint acount but my bloke is primary holder, im secondary holder. they wont talk to me!!
he's called tho and they keep passing him from department to department, the problem is that we're going on hols on 5th december and htat's he only reason we applied for the card. I want to put it down to royal mail, but it's annoying me now as I may have to take all of my spending money in travellers cheques-rubbish!!
i just wanted to whinge, i know there's nothing much we can do apart from them to return our calls as the department we need doesnt accept incoming calls!
never mind. lesson learnt, be more prepared!

  • who knows, maybe someone is currently trying to steal you identity - hence the lock out. Maybe Nationwides policy has saved you from becoming a victim of fraud? Personally I blame the criminals that have required all the increased security. Ive often been suprised by how easy it is to reset my accounts with other Banks - im often a bit crap on the phone and always give the wrong details and stuff but they always let me reset, is that a good or a bad thing?!
  • Nationwide has over 10,000,000 accounts.
It is not surprising that some customers have complaints.
