My daughters laptop won't boot up. when she starts it, it only get to the ADVENT start up screen, she has tried it on safe mode but still same problem. Shes currently at Uni & has loads of work on it so doesn't want to reformat or do anything serious that could loose the work.
Anyone got any ideas?
she has tried taking the battery out to try that way & it didn't work
thanks

not an easy one, attempting to fix errors on the drive causing the boot problem could destroy data, you really need to find someone who knows what they are doing here to look at it, i can tell you what needs doing but beyond that ie how to would take some time indeed
Best option get a usb flashdrive and a boot cd that contains a usable os like a linux "live" cd, boot off the cd and copy files required to flash driveclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
Need a bit more information realy.
If the laptop is only getting to the Advent splash screen chances are the HDD has come lose or failed (hardware or software).
When it boots press Escape key as the splash screen comes up and see if there are any error messages on the screen. To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
I'm with tomsolomon. If I were you, I'd be prepared for some tearful phone calls as I suspect she's about to get a harsh lesson about backing up.0
