I'm obsessed with saving. Never used to be. I've been naughty too. I don't get paid overtime at work but get paid lots of money in a work sickness scheme. I'm a healthy person but how else can boost my salary, so I chuck the odd sickie here and there. I know it's wromg but I don't get paid overtime and have very good record. Have worked for the same company for the last 12 years so I don't feel that bad about the odd day here and there and it boosts my income!

I don't have central heating and because my house is freezing in the winter I sleep on the settee so I don't have to heat upstairs - not that it gets warm up there anyway!

I also pick the cherries from the tree over the road whilst pretending to wait at the bus stop - not to eat too many though because they have a higher iron content being close to the road.

I'm trying to grow some food this year and also I'd like to start foraging for free food like blackberries and stuff that grows wild. I need to watch A Cook On The Wild Side again because I always forget what edible stuff looks like!

Oh! I forgot to say, yes I am obsessed atm as I only had my Eek! moment about a month ago which was good because the overdraft ran out before payday this month!

I am obsessed with my DFD, it has gotten worse since I worked out that we have flung 3k at debt over 3 months with a little effort. I am now wondering what we could do with alot of effort.

  • Hi guys, oh god yeah i am def. my entire day revolves around my debt and money saving, but ive learnt not to be too strict coz something will always come up, and use our debt owners to our advantage, for instance i played the cards at their own game, ended up with tons free stuff, this week, ive used all my loyalty points i clocked up and ended up with a free radio walkman, watch, 2 books for uni, a cute bag, bluetooth thing i cant actually get to work tho, and i have more stuff to get! see! i got loads of lovely things, just when almost all the cards are paid off!

So guys get obsessed, and get anything for free, the buzz is brill and jsut think when you are debt free, you will be so much happier, im aiming for April 2009 to be debt free.

  • Yup - utterly and totally obsessed in ways I thought I never could be, if a friend tells me about a day out I find myself thinking about how i could have done it for less or if a friend is in debt and hasn't had their lightbulb moment I start making 'helpful suggestions' about things they could do (basic bank accounts, letter templates, CCCS etc)

is it just me or are all of you obsessed with saving money for over payments. hubby thinks im obsessed cause id rather stay in and save money than go out and spend it. im trying to save £40 a week for over payments so when hes home at weekend(he works away all week) he wants to spend money and i dont want to which results in arguments. i have told him im just trying to pay the debts off quicker but he just says that we should be enjoying being with kids. i dont spend anything all week other than the weekly shop and daughter goes dance classes. so how can i get through weekend without spending a fortune.

At weekend take the kids to the park have a picnic, play football, feed ducks, walk around, playgrounds are great you dont have to spend to have fun wwith your kids!!!
