In car entertainment system or not?

Hi

I'm in the process of buying a new Mazda 5 car and am thinking about getting the entertainment system for it at a cost of around £1300 - We have two small children and I know we would use it, but we also have portable DVD players so maybe there is not a great urgency for it...

My big question is will it make any difference when it comes to re-sale ie: would it make it easier/harder to sell, would it make a difference to the price for resale etc.

Anyone out there able to help?

Thanks

If you've got 2 small children don't you think that £1300 is a bit expensive to listen to "5 cheeky monkeys bouncing on the bed" etc ????

it wont make a £1300 price difference when you sell it on.

I agree and also on top of that it may increase the cost of your insurance!

Does it not come with a basic standard ICE system? If it has a CD player and speakers, I wouldn't bother upgrading it. Unless you are an 18-25 year old man, who wants to cruise around listening to loud jungle or gangster rap. And if it does not come with anything, what are you getting for your £1300? Is this the ICE that the Mazda garage would install? I reckon you could get a decent system with CD changer, 4- 6 speakers, for half that from a specialist.

The more I think about it the more I conclude that I just don't want to spend that amount of money on what is essentially a DVD player....

No doubt with the speed technology is advancing my son will soon have a handheld version he can use for a hell of a lot less money.

Think I will keep my £1300 and invest it in my ISA instead :)

Cheers guys - sometimes the obvious answer is staring you in the face but you don't realise it until you write it down...

    Good decision!

I have a BMW 530d company car and had the choice of adding all the gubbins on and paying more tax. The full system came to about £3200 for nav and dvd. In the end I settled for a Tom Tom Go 720 (£300) and a Wharfedale twin 8" screen DVD from Argos for £179. Then about 6 months ago I spotted the Wharfedale on sale in Argos for £79.99 so I bought another one for our other car.
