Flies in McDonalds Restaurant

I went to McDonalds today as I love their strawberry milkshakes. I sat down at a table, and noticed there were hundreds of flies crawling over the chairs, tables and anywhere! Well, not hundreds, but I counted at least 10 just around my table, and there were more on the other tables.
I pointed this out to a member of staff, but they were closing soon so he didn't care. And I was upstairs and not near any windows so it's not like they could've got in easily.
I've got photos on my camera phone, but they're not that great. I'm now emailing McDonalds head office about it, but I'm not happy to just leave it. Is there anyone else I should contact?

You could try your local Environmental Health department.:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:0

Reminds me of a cafe in Newquay (the one near Aberystwyth not the Cornish one) a few years ago which had a blackboard outside with " .... 10,000 flies can't be wrong".
Didn't feel tempted to try it for some reason.0 -
I find the best solution is not to go to McDonalds - having seen the McLibel movie and being in a room with Supersize Me on in the background I know better than to buy from them - for my health and for the knowledge I am not helping such a dubious company turn a profit.0

Agree with gizmoleeds! :-)
To be honest I think you should just accept matters. It's summer, it's hot, flies are attracted by food, the guys working in the kitchen may have had the door open, McDonalds is hardly a restaurant, it's a fast food nasty shack. What do you actually want to get out of you taking your complaint further?
Go and get lunch, sorry - a milkshake elsewhere. I guess if you have to have a strawberry milkshake from McDonalds, then take it away in future?!0 -
Flies may well be better for you than anything they sell there. One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other0

Rather, it has: (Subject to supplier variation) Milk,
skimmed milk, cream, sugar, skimmed
milk powder, glucose. Stabilisers: E412
guar gum, E452 sodium
polyphosphate, E407 carrageenan,
E466 carboxymethylcellulose.
Vanilla flavour.
and...
Water, sugar, glucose syrup, strawberry juice
concentrate, acidifier: E330 citric acid, strawberry
flavour, preservative: E202 potassium sorbate,
natural colouring agent: E120 cochineal
I love the taste of carrageenan, carboxymethylcellulose and potassium sorbate on a hot summers' afternoon :think:0 -
Why don't they call it an 'e' number milkshake then? One half of the world cannot understand the pleasures of the other0

What didn't they have fly screens on all the doors and windows, with a double airlock door for customers, and feet disinfectant tanks for customers to walk thorough?
They should have sprayed insecticide throughout the restaurant. Didn't they give you antiseptic wipes for you to wipe your tray/table with and the rim of your coffee cup? Jeez what's the world coming to, now we have flies in McDonalds. They should at least put a poster on all points of entry "No Flies Allowed"0 -
"strawberry juice concentrate" surely made from strawberry juice. So there is strawberries in it.0

You didn't see the amount of flies.
And it was upstairs and not ner the windows, so it's not like they could've got in easily anyway.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
