Kitchens

Can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a kitchen from. I'm looking to fit it ourselves and as we have a tiny tiny kitchen, I'm looking for a decent but bargain price.

So far, Ikea is looking good, but any other suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks

With Ikea, be aware of the compulsory £50 delivery chare for everything other than the absolute basic range,

We did our kitchen from there last year, double and triple check what they offer you, with regards to shelves that need to be purchased seperatly. Check out what is available in bargain corner as a lot of shelves have been there since we brought ours and in hindsight should have checked there first.

Our experience was a good one, if you want more details or info post or PM me.

Homebase (go on 10% day and use a spend and save card to get homebase vouchers back)

Be aware that you have to order the kitchen and it takes about 6 - 8 weeks to come through.
When life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt ;)
  • If you're looking for 'cheap' then it's hard to beat IKEA, but just be aware that they don't have an enormous range of options - and the chances are that you'll bump into someone who has the same one as you...

However, for really good kitchens, delivered to your door, of high quality then try: https://www.arenakitchens.co.uk

Sure, they're more expensive than the norm, but are delivered 'built' and are of really good quality. We don't regret it at all.

We have an Avanti kitchen, which we had fitted in January.

Again, the units aren't too cheap, but they come built, include any door handle you like in the cost, and you probably won't find someone else has it too.

We basically decided to go for a good manufacturer and buy their cheapest product, rather than a cheap manufacturer and buy their most expensive.

Also, if you live in the Midlands, that's where they're made, so you can pop down to the factory if you have a problem (which we didn't) :)

  • we ordered our new kitchen from MFi a couple of weeks ago. Was on a 60% off deal (not sure if this has fininshed but they always have these kind of offers) we got them to quote for it then didnt go back for about a week and they sent us a voucher in the post offering us another £200 off - this meant the price well undercut any other offer. We havent got it yet arrives in a few weeks but know plenty of people with MFI kitchens and they are great. We are also fitting it ourselves - friend who fits kitchen for a living said MFi are some ofthe easiest. Hope this helps.

I'm tempted by the ones in Wickes although I can't confirm their quality or value. Maybe its just the really cool soft close feature on the drawers and doors that does it for me :-). Think some of their kitchens you can buy off the shelf too. Anyway thats a project for next year !!

IKEA was where we got ours, they were the only place we could find one in Gloss Black - why the funny face pulling ?? You can sort of have help designing it, in store, & on line, too.

BUT... MFI will plan it properly for you, in store, if you book an appointment. Just take your measurements - windows/pipes/points n things marked ACCURATLEY & the competer plans are pretty good. You don't need to buy from them - or pay for this service!!

The Homebase range looks reasonable too - 1/2 price & extra 15% off this week. Get a Spend n Save card (NOT credit card) & you'll build up voucher savings for future purchases. This IS worth the effort!!

Grahams Builders merchants have a "take away " flat pack range that is SOOO cheap ,instead of replacing my doors, I changed my kitchen.

I've never heard of them but they seem to have quite a few branches near to me in Portsmouth. Do they have these kitchens on display in their branches as they don't seem to have any pictures on their website? I'm not brave enough to buy a kitchen without seeing it first.
    Cheers
