Hello all,
I have around 600 litres of white diesel in 25 litre drums which is what was left over after we had our bulk storage tank taken out at our yard and I'm just wondering if I could flog it on feebay as an auction listing?
Is there anything in the rule book to say I can't?
Thanks,
Rob

WHITE Diesel?
I've heard of Red Diesel, but not White!Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0 -
Diesel may fall under the 'Hazardous items'Many hazardous goods that cannot be sent by mail or commercial carrier are not allowed to be listed on eBay.
I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you are allowed to transport 25 litres of fuel (unless in the vehicle's fuel tank) without special permission/licence.
I do know that you are not allowed to store that amount of fuel at home or workplace without special licence (which begs the question are you doing so legally?)
Petrol and diesel fuel should be stored in no more than two 10 litre metal containers or two 5 litre plastic containers.

I would think the only way you could be safe selling this diesel on ebay is to sell it in lots no greater than the above limits."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
i'll bet you could soon shift it on local sites, gumtree etc however i dont know the legal side of selling it
i assume as you bought it you then pid all duties on it for you useage
dont know any duty on you reselling or the buyer0 -
not sure about selling it on ebay but i do know that red diesel can be sieved and look white/yellow but the chemicals are still in it
it should be a straw colour
so i would avoid buying just incase i got pulled over by the ministary of transport but i am sure there are buyers out there
just remember diesel is not dangerous it is the vapours which are dangerous so leave a 3% ullage gap at the top of each receptical.
diesel is a class 2 product petrol is class 1
the flashpoint is
DIESEL 63C
PETROL 21C
DEFINITION OF A FLASH POINT
The lowest temprature of which application of a small flame causes the vapour above a petroleum product to ignight when product0 -
What price are you looking to sell it at and is there VAT?
IMO I'd avoid ebay fees, plenty of other places to sell0 -
Can't you use it for yourselfs ? would be a bonus with the ever increasing fuel prices!!!0

Thanks for your replies everyone. Within 10 minutes of me asking I had a PM from someone asking me whereabouts in the country I was and an offer of £600 in cash if I was within a reasonable distance. As luck would have it the guy lived in the next town and the deal has been done and the diesel collected.
It was no good to me as I run a petrol car and all our vans have already gone.
