transferring 1 mbna to another mbna

I've got 2 credit cards, Virgin and A&L, unaware they were both issued by MBNA, i tried to transfer the balance of Virgin to A&L, but was told i cannot transfer 1 MBNA to another. Can they do this?? I am paying interest on both, i did try for a new credit card but got declined.

I know with natwest, you can't make a transfer from/to Mint for 0% BT because RBS own them both... So it's allowed.

Generally it is NOT allowed to Balance Transfer between cards run by the same bank.

However, MBNA run cards allow you to transfer directly to your Bank Account. Once the funds are in you Bank Account, you can pay your other MBNA run card from there - so you can get round the restriction
