Try selecting the option "save to disk" and using the window to point it to a place u can
navigate to like the desktop, once its saved you may just be able to doubleclick the file to start up the package manager
dont have an eepc so was speaking in generic termsclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
thanks for your replies
I managed to move downloaded files to my document, opened it and it says copying for a second, installation completes but i cant find the messenger anywhere, all i have access is to my documents , wheres my computer etc
sorry i am an ex xp user who is just about to give up with this ee pc lol, i read somewhere on google to download Apatch, apparantly it lets you download windows live messenger to any operating system but after download Apatch, it installs, but theres no sign of it, i just downloaded files like .package/.tar gz/.zeb/.exe. really confused 0 -

Don't bother with aMSN, use Pidgin instead or Kopete if it's a KDE desktop. It does all the IM clients. Which version of Linux does the laptop come with?0

If your using an eeepc, It is not the usual way to install amsn. You have to use terminal, add some details, and then get it to install, then when its installed, you have to go another route to get it onto the favourites section of the linux versaion.
I have managed to install it on a friends eee. Just to use the webcam because pigin doesnt support it, neither does Skype, also amsn did not detect the webcam, well it did, but said it was in use.
So im not sure how to get the webcam working for the msn network.
When i eventually get mine i will be sticking a copy of xp on.Things that are free in life are great, well most of the time :beer:0
