Where to start

The convergence and maturity of devices such as phones/cameras/video-cams/sat navs, into truly useful, accurate and essential gadgets, cheap to run, with functions you never thought possible, that'll hopefully be in the next 10-20 years max.
Massive bandwidth and free Internet access for all, delivered by optical fibre to your house, including streamed TV and video on demand. (Not to be confused with the "up to 8Mb promise of ADSL"...)
Safe, fast modern cars powered by inexpensive to produce sustainable, low-polluting fuel.
Trains that are on time, and faster than a bullet. (Probably not in the UK!)
Affordable, low-polluting supersonic aircraft. (See above).
The death of the hard disc replaced with all manner of multi-terabyte desktop storage options.
Oh and (hopefully) the crushing of the health and safety police, allowing people to actually get on with life without the petty lunacy which smothers our life today.0 -

*Plies with squash - those E numbers always get people talking*
I'd love to see something tech happen in recycling - new uses, etc.. An aquaintance is already investigating the 'mining' prospects of old landfill sites for the dumped plastics and metals.
IT can't impact on the worst issue this planet faces, which is overpopulation, but it could instruct and bear on the redress, or assist resource management in the meantime - but I hold out little hope for common sense.IT Field Service Engineer, 20 years with screwdriver and hammer
