Help!! Washing machine broken down with water in it!

Our washing machine has totally given up the ghost... and is full of water. We've no idea how to drain it as it won't do anything apart from buzz and not do what you want it to.
So looks like we're going to have to buy a new one as we're currently sans washing machine with no way of cleaning our clothes.
Question is... how the HELL do we empty the old one and get rid of it?????

this happened to me last year. Best thing to do is use a big sponge (like what you wash the car with), then just sponge it out into a bucket. You'll then be able to move the washing machine out.0 -
whats the betting you've got a coin stuck in it (from my experience
) dont try using it any more until its been investigated as if it damages any of the machine bits then its gonna be a big bill
scoop it out with something then sponge itMoney, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....0 -
No doubt, you will not be able to open the door. You will have to move the machine out - so you can get to the back. Now, if my memory serves me correctly, you'll have to release the waste pipe on the machine itself.
Have a couple of bowls and towels at the ready.
I had the same problem, took the washing machine man about 5 mins to sort it and it cost me £30. A little plastic kiddies toy had got in the pump.
Obviously make sure the washer is unplugged from the mains, then take off the back panel.
* The sump hose is the black concertina hose that goes from the bottom of the tub to the water pump.
* Take off this hose at the tub end, and pull it away from the tub.
* Have a towel ready to catch the water that will be inside.0 -
If the water won't pump out, try lowering the outlet hose below the level of the water and point it into a washing-up bowl or something similar to catch the waste. You should be able to empty most of the water if the receptacle is lower than the drum in the machine that way. Then you can dismantle the hoses around the pump and take a look at what is causing the blockage.0

We have had this happen to us due to something getting stuck from a coin to a bra wire. We discovered our washing machine has a little flap at the bottom. If I undo this there is a little plastic pipe with a screw on cap, which if you undo will let you drain the water out at a reasonable rate into a bowl or similar. It has also happened when it has been guncked up with limescale; try doing some washes with calgon or something similar to try and break down the limescale.0
