Question about divorce and savings......

My friend has recently left her husband. They own a house which is will be buying him out of. While they were married, she inherited about £30,000, £20k was put in to stocks and shares (via financial advisor).
She is under the impression that her husband is not entitled to any of this inheritance as it never went into a joint account. I always thought that any money that either of them gained during the marraige became both of theirs?

Does anyone know??

its a complex area which needs professional legal advice but basic principles are that all assets and debts are deemed joint regardless of who made it. The starting premise is 50-50 but much is taken into account such as children, earnings, length of marriage.

Your friend is mistaken though that her ex is not entitled. He is, just as much as she's entitled to claim against any of his assets.
