Track lighting - anyone got it?

We've just had a kitchen extension and I've been really struggling to decide on lights as it is a big room now (about 5m square) and we're really not sure how we are going to end up using it.
I've come across track lighting in the screwfix catalogue which looks fab. I thought we could get the electrician to put up the track and we could just add the lights to where we feel they would work - moving them if we need to.
Is it really as flexible as it looks?
What brand / make did you go for - is there anything we need to watch out for?
Has anyone bought it online? I've found two sites so far: www.lighting-direct.co.uk and www.tlc-direct.co.uk which look reasonable (and cheaper than screwfix) but have no idea how reliable hey would be.
Also there seems to be quite a wide variety in price - are you just paying for fancier looking lamps or is there more to it than that?
Sorry for all the questions and thanks! lins xxx

Has anyone bought it online? No, we bought it from a shop because we wanted to see the lighting on display before we bought.

Hello lins
We've recently installed track lighting in our kitchen and it's great.;)
We've got these spot lights x 6:

We've got this track but the 3m version, not the 2m version shown in the link:
http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/PWMLT200.html
We've got this transformer:

We're very happy with the lighting.

Had track lighting in our last kitchen and it was fine. Obviously more flexible than putting in recessed lights ... then deciding you got it wrong.
But I would look for something that takes GU low energy equivalents .... as running 6/8 50w GU bulbs is a bit tough on the old environment.
Our current kitchen has fixed track / fixed fittings (you can angle the light source but not move the fitting on the track). But the fittings have an opaque glass cowl .... and won't take low energy with a 50w equivalent output, and it's beginning to nark me. As the OH won't accept being dimmed a bit .... even to save the planet;)
TLC are excellent ... but watch their published prices tend to be ex-VAT?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
But do you ever move them about.? I put in track lighting in the late 70s, but haven't wibbled them about for the last 20 years. Mind you. suppose it beats blu-tacking stuff to make it moveable for a while until you get "the mood".0
